My Story

Hi! My name is Connie, and I have always enjoyed caring for others, which was the reason I started out as a Nurse Assistant. Even though I did that for several years, I later realized it wasn’t what I was called to do, so I went back to school and became a Medical Office Specialist, as well as a Phlebotomist (draw and collect blood samples). I worked at those for a time, but it wasn’t until I attended the birth of a family friend when God put on my heart the calling I now have.

I didn’t even know what a doula was, but I knew I wanted to be involved in helping moms deliver their babies. I read about being a doula online, ordered numerous books, read them all, and even attended the births of two more friends. The supportive role I played, and the joy & amazement I received from those births cemented the direction where God was leading me – I wanted to be a Doula. However, I had no idea how to go about doing it. I remember praying the Lord would lead me in the direction I needed to go, and I received a name – Jenny. I searched only for Doulas named Jenny, and lo and behold, Jenny Hernandez at Doula Do Right came up; pure providence. I reached out and after meeting with her, I attended the DONA International workshop and am now working towards certification. I am grateful to have Jenny as a mentor and for the opportunity to come alongside and shadow her, and learn what it takes to become a doula.

There is something so amazing about the life God creates; it is a very powerful and rewarding experience to witness a new baby being born. I loved everything about my own pregnancies and births; I love loving on moms and babies; I absolutely love working with expectant moms and dads. There is such a fulfillment in doing this which I didn’t get in any of my other jobs. My desire is to help women achieve the most positive birth experience possible.

Your birth is a story – it is your own personal story, and I want to help you write the most beautiful story ever.
